A day in Chelsea – walk on the highline

A favorite Saturday of mine is to head up the highway to New York and go to the galleries in Chelsea. One of the best things about this day is everything that has been happening around the galleries in the past 2 years. The Highline is a park that was built out of the deserted railroad tracks in the west side running between 30th down to Gansevoort in the meatpacking district.

A great day in NYC for me:

start in the meatpacking district
grab a snack at The Standard Grill
walk upstairs to the highline
walk up the highline towards Chelsea
Stop at Blue Bottle coffee stand on the Park for an amazing cuppa
head downstairs to street level at 20th
browse the galleries in Chelsea
End the day at the pub on 23rd

Then back home to Philly where there is a park along the Delaware river where Race street meets Delaware Ave – the park is designed by the same architects that designed the Highline: Race Street Pier
